The mission of Houston Youth Guitar is to inspire excellence, foster creativity, and nurture a lifelong love of music through high-quality classical guitar education. We provide engaging ensembles and individual learning experiences that empower children to achieve their musical potential while celebrating their individuality. Rooted in community and accessibility, we strive to make classical guitar education a transformative and inclusive journey for every student, with regular opportunities for competition and public performance.
About Dr. Sarre
Houston Youth Guitar founder Russell Sarre is an Australian-born composer and guitarist. His music has been performed around the globe from The White House to London’s West End, Edinburgh Fringe Festival to the Shanghai Oriental Arts Center. He has composed music for Film, Theatre, Music Theatre, Dance, Opera and the Concert Stage. Sarre has taught at numerous K-12 and postsecondary institutions, including the Shepherd School of Music, Texas A&M, the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts, Eastern Mediterranean University, and Lone Star College. He also co-produced and presented award-winning radio shows in Austin for KMFA.
